WEALTHY WEDNESDAY: Cheap airfare
EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the first installment in a weekly series called “Wealthy Wednesday,” where you can get money-saving travel tips to help pad your bank account. Unsurprisingly, it runs on Wednesdays!
Looking to get away sometime between April 16 and late October? Southwest Airlines is running a special sale on dozens of flights across the country, with some deals running as little as $59 one-way (of course, those rates are really only for trips that would probably just as easily be done by car). Partner Air Tran is running a similar special.
Want to go on a mini-vacation this weekend? United Airlines has a slew of deals (sadly, none from Indianapolis), some as cheap as $160 round-trip. I’ve never had the foresight to book a trip like this at the last second, one of the pitfalls of being a chronic planner.
Looking for a little more international flair? U.S. Airways will get you from Boston to Ireland for less than $800 round-trip. You’ll have to pony up an extra $100 is you’re leaving from Chicago.
If none of these times work for you, view some other useful tips for saving money on your airfare at FareCompare’s website.
