Photo Gallery: Fall in the Windy City
The weather held up (for the most part, although, it was a bit gloomy) during our recent trip to Chicago. Took in “Mockingjay” at the Showplace Icon Roosevelt Collection Theatre. We splurged for $19 VIP seats, which got us access to a special lounge, booze, balcony and plush seats.
We love theatre in Chicago, and the Theater Wit did not disappoint. The one-man “Santaland Diaries” show is based on author David Sedaris’ experiences as an elf at Macy’s during the holidays. Funny stuff. This theatre is interesting, in that it has multiple shows going on at the same time — kind of like a movie theater, but with plays.
Can you believe we got the four-star Wyndham Grand RIverfront hotel for $188 TOTAL for two nights on Hotwire (that included tax!). Great location, sandwiched between State Street and Michigan Avenue. We even got to look at the gaudy TRUMP sign from our room.
Good food from the noodles place at Seven on 7 inside the State Street Macy’s, bagel sandwiches at Chicago Bagel Authority on Belmont and sweet treats from Magnolia Bakery on State Street — all winners in our book.
Some of the sights including the “L,” State Street Macy’s decked out in holiday flair and the Chicago Theatre.
